In Korea, when people move into a new home, they usually host a housewarming party and treat their guests to delicious food. Typically, the homeowner prepares the meal, so I decided to cook everything myself.
I made braised ribs using pork back ribs, inspired by galbijjim, which is often served as a New Year’s dish. I also prepared a trendy dish called “salmon kkakdugi,” where salmon is mixed with sriracha sauce and various seasonings, along with a fig and burrata cheese salad, and everyone’s favorite—miyeokguk (seaweed soup).
The braised back ribs took quite a long time to cook because they need to simmer for a long time to become tender and flavorful, but they ended up being the most popular dish.
In Korea, there’s a food culture of enjoying meals with many different side dishes, so housewarming parties usually feature a wide variety of foods.
You’re invited to a K-housewarming!
