As a jelly lover, I can’t walk past the jelly section in Korean convenience stores. Found some new ones: Egg Tart-shaped jelly and Shine Muscat jelly.
The Egg Tart one? Mind-blowing. At first I was skeptical because it looked a bit rough compared to the packaging, but then I tasted it… It literally tastes like an egg tart! The yellow custard part is creamy and sweet, and the shell has this crispy-chewy cookie flavor that’s buttery and savory. It’s crazy how well it captures the real thing.
The Shine Muscat one was… meh. Not as good.
But here’s what I love about Korean food culture: Koreans don’t just eat things as intended. They’re CREATIVE. Remember when mango jelly went viral? People were grilling them over fire, eating them like marshmallows! And a few years ago, everyone was putting everything in waffle makers—tteokbokki, croissants, you name it.
That creativity is what makes Korean food culture so fun to watch (and copy). 😂 What’s the next wild trend gonna be? 🤔
